The fan base is split basically down the middle. The bowserists think the new King is incredibly more sinister looking then his old counter part. Some oldschoolists give a screen shot from an old episode of [[The Super Mario Bros. Super Show]], which reveals King Koopa brandishing a sword and holding Luigi, the Princess, and Toad captive on a ship. They say if a pirate Koopa King isn't bad ass, then what is?
