Oddly adequate, I've come to believe that losing my hearing was 1 of the best items that ever occurred to me, as it led to the publication of my very first novel. But it took a whilst for me to accept that I was losing my hearing and required assist.

But I was as well baffled--and embarrassed--to say anything to my roommate or to any person else.
