Do the Mario!
A half live, half action show from the late 1980's devoted to The Super Mario Bros. This series had 24 crazy episodes each starting and ending with live Mario and Luigi fun with a Mario cartoon in the middle. As a special treat, near the end of each show there would be clips for an upcoming Zelda cartoon.

The show makes references to characters like Pee Wee Herman, Mark Twain, and Frankenstein to name a few. Some episodes even do parodies of popular stories like that of King Arthur and Camelot. Each episode is crazier than the last and you'll either be laughing at its shear awesomeness or extreme suckiness. How can you go wrong with a half live, half action show that revolves around Mario and Luigi? It's not like the main characters who are older Italian gentleman dressed up like women to appear as their cousins in one of the first episodes.

Noteworthy Episodes

Episode 12: Pirates of the Koopa
This exciting episode of the Super Show is all about pirates. Mario and Luigi are going for a nice boat ride with a Pirate Captain that only asks them to peel potatoes. Of course Mario has food on his mind and suggests peeling potatoes into noodles for pasta. The Pirate Captain warns them about Blackbeard Koopa, the meanest pirate that ever sailed. They meet up with Blackbeard and are of course attacked by his ship. In the battle the Princess was captured and the Bros., Toad, and the Pirate Captain were tied to their mast to be left for dead. Mario manages to get a star to become Super Mario, and they make their escape. They try to infiltrate the enemy sea port by becoming pirate's themselves. Mario becomes Captain Kidder and Luigi is Long John Spaghetti, Luigi blends in by ordering milk in a dirty glass from the bar keep. Of course the Mario Bros. save the day and the Princess, but not before a sword fight. Below are some screen shots from this exciting episode.

Episode 11: Stars in Their Eyes
The live action portion of this episode starts off with a visit from the Alligator Dundee, who is trying to capture the Mario Bros.' pet ratigator. A picture is provided below, but now onto the cartoon! Like any great series, cartoon or otherwise, this one has an episode in space. The Bros. navigating through a meteor shower while their ship is hit and they are marooned on a mysterious planet. The planet's gravity is week so Luigi has the idea of carrying tools with them so himself, Mario, Princess, and Toad won't float off the planet. Of course King Koopa is there enslaving the natives to do his dirty work. Moon rocks are his game this episode and he tries to put the Bros. to work. Mario figures out that hitting the anvil with the hammer has an effect on the shackles around his legs. He and the others beat rapidly on the anvils and they are freed. As they try to escape again King Koopa uses his large magnet to try and stop them. Despite being a really large cartoon magnet, the aliens manage to stop his plot by blocking the magnetic field with the chains around their legs. The Mario Bros. and company escape the planet and the aliens figure out playing music from their horns disrupts the metal in their chains and maybe even the rocket King Koopa is now trying to use to stop the Mario Bros. They play to the toon of the classic Legend of Zelda theme and King Koopa is defeated again. The Mario Bros. finally escape pursuit from one last spaceship by deploying their pasta reserves. Mario was saddened by this so Princess had to actually pull the level to release the pasta, poor Mario... Below are some screenshots from this crazy episode.
