Comets are little celestial bodies that orbit the Sun. They've a nucleus heart and may or may not have an end. The Sun is orbited by them at very long times in highly elliptical orbits. They go by the Planet Earth on a cyclical schedule.

Comets have a nucleus called coma. This coma comprises rock, dust and ice. The snow melts, because the comet gets nearer to the Sun and this creates lots of debris and dirt. As the force of the sun raises, the solar wind pushes the dirt and debris in to a beautiful comet tail. The sun illuminates the tail and we could view the comet from Earth.

Before the invention of telescopes, comets would seem out of left field. Like they'd illuminate themselves every one of a sudden, perhaps not unlike the recent comet, Comet Holmes it looked. Comet Holmes saw a flareup in just a few days that managed to get visible in The World with the naked eye. Before, it'd only been apparent as a faint image in a telescope.

Today scientists are able to see and find comets that will normally perhaps not be visible on The Planet. Because of the cyclical character of comets, some comets may only appear every several hundred years. There's always an opportunity for an amateur with a telescope to find out a never before seen comet, just like the discovery of the Hale-Bopp Comet in 1996.

Comets are believed to originate in the Oort Cloud. The Oort Cloud is found in the farthest reaches of our solar system and is nearly 3 light years in size. It's in the Oort Cloud that comets originate and come back to. Because of this range and the huge size of the Oort Cloud, Comets come at regular intervals of thousands of years. This is compounded by the very elliptical orbits of Comets. For example, the most popular comet, Haley's Comet comes every 76 years. However, it's the sole bare attention readable comet that comes so often.

Comets are the source of folklore and beauty in our air. A comet gives us a chance to really see the beauty in astronomy. in english
